Saheliyon ki Bari
The concept of Sahelion Ki Bari is said to have evolved for a group of forty-eight young women attendants of a princess to Udaipur as part of her dowry. The gardens has beautiful lotus pools, marble pavilions and elephant – shaped fountains. The garden was designed by the king himself as a present to his queen. The strolled in the garden with her attendants and spent her leisure hours there. Saheli means friends or attendants in Hindi, so the garden got its name.
सहेलियों का इतिहास
कहा जाता है कि सहेलियन की बारी की अवधारणा दहेज के हिस्से के रूप में उदयपुर की एक अड़तालीस युवा महिला अटेंडेंट के समूह के लिए विकसित हुई है। बगीचों में सुंदर कमल ताल, संगमरमर के मंडप और हाथी के आकार के फव्वारे हैं। बगीचे को राजा ने खुद अपनी रानी के लिए एक वर्तमान के रूप में डिजाइन किया था। अपने परिचारकों के साथ बगीचे में टहलते हुए और वहाँ अपने अवकाश के समय बिताए। सहेली का मतलब हिंदी में दोस्तों या परिचारकों से है, इसलिए बगीचे को इसका नाम मिला।
Saheliyon Ki Bari was laid for a group of forty-eight maidens. This garden is located on the banks of the Fateh Sagar Lake, presenting a green retreat in the dry lands of Rajasthan. It was built from 1710 to 1734 by Maharana Sangram Singh for the royal ladies.
As per legend, the garden was designed by the king himself and he presented this garden to his queen. The queen was accompanied by 48 maids in her marriage. To offer all of them pleasurable moments away from the political intrigues of the court, this garden was made. This patterned garden used to be the popular relaxing spot of the royal ladies. The queen with her maids and female companions used to come here for a stroll and spend their time in leisure.
सहेलियन की बारी अड़तालीस युवकों के समूह के लिए रखी गई थी। यह उद्यान फतेह सागर झील के किनारे स्थित है, जो राजस्थान की शुष्क भूमि में एक हरे रंग की वापसी पेश करता है। यह शाही महिलाओं के लिए महाराणा संग्राम सिंह द्वारा 1710 से 1734 तक बनाया गया था।
किंवदंती के अनुसार, बगीचे को राजा ने खुद डिजाइन किया था और उन्होंने इस बगीचे को अपनी रानी को प्रस्तुत किया था। रानी अपनी शादी में 48 नौकरानियों के साथ थी। उन सभी को अदालत की राजनीतिक साज़िशों से दूर सुखद क्षणों की पेशकश करने के लिए, यह उद्यान बनाया गया था। यह पैटर्न वाला बगीचा शाही महिलाओं का लोकप्रिय आराम स्थान हुआ करता था। अपनी नौकरानियों और महिला साथियों के साथ रानी टहलने के लिए यहां आती थीं और आराम से अपना समय बिताती थीं।
The huge bath area of Sahelion ki Bari
As you move further, you arrive at an entrance door that leads into a huge bath area. In the center of this area lies a huge swimming pool. And there is a beautiful fountain in the middle of this pool. So, this was obviously used by the ladies for taking bath and relaxing in the water. Alas, when we arrived here, the pool was undergoing a maintenance. So we couldn’t see the fountain in operation. But we would have so much loved to.
Behind the pool is a long array of changing rooms. But just like everything else here, they are not just ordinary changing rooms. Pipelines run upto the roof of these rooms carrying water. And then the water falls into the pool from the beautifully carved openings from the roof. If you picture it all in totality – a pool of water with a beautiful fountain in the middle sprinkling water all over,.Then water falling from the room from behind. If I were in the middle of this pool, I would no doubt feel like enjoying in a beautiful pond in the middle of heavy rain .
सहेलियन की बारी का विशाल स्नान क्षेत्र
जैसे-जैसे आप आगे बढ़ते हैं, आप एक प्रवेश द्वार पर पहुँचते हैं जो एक विशाल स्नान क्षेत्र में जाता है। इस क्षेत्र के केंद्र में एक विशाल स्विमिंग पूल है। और इस कुंड के बीच में एक सुंदर फव्वारा है। तो, यह स्पष्ट रूप से महिलाओं द्वारा स्नान करने और पानी में आराम करने के लिए इस्तेमाल किया गया था। काश, जब हम यहां पहुंचे, पूल एक रखरखाव से गुजर रहा था। इसलिए हम ऑपरेशन में फव्वारा नहीं देख सकते थे। लेकिन हमें इतना प्यार होता।
पूल के पीछे कमरों की एक लंबी सरणी है। लेकिन यहां की हर चीज की तरह, वे सिर्फ साधारण चेंजिंग रूम नहीं हैं। पानी ले जाने वाले इन कमरों की छत तक पाइपलाइन चलती है। और फिर छत से सुंदर नक्काशीदार उद्घाटन से पानी पूल में गिर जाता है। यदि आप इसे समग्रता में देखते हैं - पानी के एक पूल के बीच में एक सुंदर फव्वारा है जिसमें चारों ओर पानी छिड़का जा रहा है, तो पीछे से कमरे से पानी गिर रहा है। अगर मैं इस कुंड के बीच में होता, तो मुझे कोई संदेह नहीं होता, जैसे भारी बारिश के बीच एक सुंदर तालाब में आनंद लेना।
Next, crossing the Savan Bhado area, you arrive at an area with a huge pond like water body in the middle, surrounded by garden on the sides. It is located just behind the changing rooms of the bath area that you visited before. This is called “Lotus pond” because, as obvious from the first look of it, the water body is full of beautiful lotus plantation. It is, definitely, one of the most prominent structures inside Sahelion ki Bari Udaipur. Again, in the center lies a beautiful fountain, marked by the sculpture of a standing lady. And the sides are marked by beautiful marble elephant statues. By the time we arrived in this area, it was almost getting dark.
The place looked so beautiful in the light of the dusk accompanied by the lighting in the park that were being gradually turned on. The lotus are in full bloom in the pond. Looks like it is very well maintained.
Walking a little further you will spot a pretty sitting area. I don’t know why but it is fenced now, so, visitors don’t have the liberty of enjoying a seat here, like the maidens and queens would have done in the past. Guess it is done to preserve and maintain the structure better since it is centuries old now. Nevertheless, it is beautiful. And we managed a few beautiful snaps through the fencing .

इसके बाद, सावन भादो क्षेत्र को पार करते हुए, आप बीच में जल निकाय जैसे विशाल तालाब के साथ एक क्षेत्र में पहुंचते हैं, जो चारों ओर बगीचे से घिरा हुआ है। यह स्नान क्षेत्र के बदलते कमरों के ठीक पीछे स्थित है जिसे आपने पहले देखा था। इसे "लोटस पॉन्ड" कहा जाता है, क्योंकि इसके प्रथम स्वरूप से स्पष्ट है, जल निकाय सुंदर कमल के वृक्षारोपण से भरा है। यह निश्चित रूप से, सहेलियन की बारी उदयपुर के अंदर सबसे प्रमुख संरचनाओं में से एक है। फिर, केंद्र में एक सुंदर फव्वारा है, जो एक खड़ी महिला की मूर्तिकला द्वारा चिह्नित है। और किनारे सुंदर संगमरमर की हाथी मूर्तियों द्वारा चिह्नित हैं। जब तक हम इस क्षेत्र में पहुंचे, तब तक लगभग अंधेरा हो रहा था।
पार्क में रोशनी के साथ शाम ढलते ही रोशनी में यह जगह इतनी खूबसूरत लग रही थी कि धीरे-धीरे चालू हो रही थी। तालाब में कमल पूरी तरह खिले हुए हैं। ऐसा लगता है कि यह बहुत अच्छी तरह से बनाए रखा है।
